Why does a baby have colics?

How can we help a baby with a colic? Most of the time parents go with easy alternatives to treat baby’s colic which is to administrate pharmaceutical product or have a car ride with music on, but these are not the proper or correct way of treating a baby with colic.

The main reason of colic is that they have a microbial imbalance in their gut. Babies obtain their intestinal flora by the consumption of breastmilk which gives the very first and beneficial microbes that are Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus, but sometimes the flora of the baby have an imbalance. The predominance of the lactate utilizing bacteria that are Veillonella ratti and Eubacterium hallii against the sulfate reducing bacteria (SRB) cause the more production of H2 leading to baby colic. The best way to help a baby is to change the milk or the formula with the addition of potential Lactobacillus as probiotic to have a better and balance interaction of baby’s intestinal flora and get rid of the colic. Is still unknown how babies generate the imbalance microbial gut, but testing will be created in the near future.
