Dirty mouth: Relation between the environment and human oral viral community

by: Ediza Aguirre

It is known that the human mouth is constantly exposed to viruses. The aim of this article is to determine the probable correlation of viruses in the human mouth and the surrounding environment; during the study 21 persons were the subjects; 11 from different houses and 10 unconnected subjects. Saliva examination and CRISPR (Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeat) loci were conducted. Streptococcus, Gemella and Leptrotrichia were found in individuals that were sharing their living environment, this data suggests that the environment has a big impact on the human mouth bacteria and virus community. Although further studies must follow; this information provides enough data to support the importance of ecology in human health and wellness.
